Check-in baggage:

Please refer to your branded fare for the entitled check-in baggage allowance, maximum two pieces per passenger.

Any single bag with total dimension between 158cm/62in and 203cm/80in is considered as "Oversized baggage”  which is subject to be charged according to the Airport Excess Baggage Rate.     

Any single piece of check-in baggage that exceeds 32kg/70lbs in weight or 203cm/80in long in total dimension will not be accepted at airport. 

You can check-in up to 40kg/2pcs baggage in total.  Please note that we may not be able to accept excess baggage at the airport, depending on the loading capacity on your flight.

Please note: All dimensions on our website are measured as Length + Width + Height.

Baggage Allowance

Depending on your branded fare type, check-in baggage allowance may be included, or you may need to pay a little extra.

For more information on baggage allowance and restrictions, please refer to our General Baggage Policy. If your baggage exceeds the baggage allowance, it will be charged according to the Airport Excess Baggage Rate.

You can now purchase additional baggage allowance for your trip, on top of the standard baggage allowance that comes with your ticket.  You may check-in a maximum of 2 pieces of baggage for your journey.

Carry-on baggage:

• Carry-on baggage must not exceed total dimensions of 115cm/45in (56+36+23cm / 22+14+9in), and weight must not exceed 7kg/15lbs, with 1 piece per passenger and 
  
• 1 small personal item as free items (e.g., handbag, laptop bag, camera bag etc.)

Infant baggage allowance:

You may carry a Child Restraint Seat or baby stroller as free check-in baggage when travelling with infants. An infant paying an adult fare for a seat will be entitled to the baggage allowance of the selected branded fare type.

If you carry any oversized, overweight or extra piece of baggage not included in your baggage allowance, it will be considered as excess baggage and charged according to the Airport Excess Baggage Rate.

Excess baggage:

• Any "Extra piece" of baggage that exceeds 1 or 2 pieces per passenger (adult / child) based on the "free baggage allowance" that included in branded fare and pre-paid allowance. 
• Any "Overweight" baggage that exceeds the baggage weight allowance. 
• Any "Oversized" baggage that exceeds the total dimension between 158cm/62in and 203cm/80in.

Airport Excess Baggage Rate will be converted to the local currency according to the exchange rate on the day of departure.

*The “23kgs” will be translated into baggage allowance in calculating the excess baggage charge for “overweight” if any.     

**Except 1 small personal item as free carry-on items (e.g., a small size handbag, an overcoat, a small amount of reading materials, laptop bag, camera bag, mobility devices etc.) per passenger (adult / child). 

Baggage containing dangerous goods will not be allowed onboard to ensure the safety of our passengers. Please refer to the Dangerous Goods - Hong Kong Civil Aviation Department for detailed regulations and requirements.

Dangerous Drugs

To take forward the HKSAR Government’s plan to list CBD as a dangerous drug under the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance (DDO), the related Amendment Order has been tabled at the Legislative Council for negative vetting. Subject to legislative procedures, the subsidiary legislation to control CBD as a dangerous drug would commence on 1 February, 2023.

Subject to legislative procedures, CBD will become a dangerous drug on 1 February, 2023. Under the DDO, trafficking (including importing and exporting) and manufacturing of substances in contravention of the law will be subject to a maximum penalty of life imprisonment and a fine of $5 million. Possession and consumption of substances in contravention of the DDO will be subject to a maximum penalty of seven years’ imprisonment and a fine of $1 million, or click here for more information. 

• Certain restricted items may only be carried onboard if fulfilling our requirements, please click Here for details.
• Electronic cigarettes may only be carried in your carry-on baggage or on your person. However, you must refrain from using electronic cigarettes onboard and make sure they are not placed in your check-in baggage. Please note that some countries have imposed regulations to ban passengers from importing electronic cigarettes or similar products. • You are advised to also observe the regulations regarding “Firearms and Ammunition”, “Prohibited Weapons” and “Restricted Items” within the territory of Hong Kong, related to the possession of items such as stunning devices, tear gas sprays, knuckle dusters, extendable batons, etc. These regulations are applicable to both transit and arrival passengers. Please note that Greater Bay Airlines will not be liable and responsible for any confiscated items removed from passengers by airport security personnel. However, we may help to store the item up to 7 days for you to pick up if it is returned to us by the security personnel. Otherwise, the confiscated item will be disposed of.

If you want to travel with any liquids, aerosols, gels or powders, please note that restrictions on the carriage of liquids, aerosols, gels, and powders are subject to local government regulations. We advise you to check with the authorities of your departure and arrival country for details.

For passengers departing from Hong Kong International Airport, please be aware that security controls on the carriage of liquids, aerosols, and gels in carry-on baggage are in force to comply with the relevant regulations outlined as follows, or click Here for details. 

• All liquids, aerosols and gels carried in carry-on baggage must be stored in containers not exceeding 100ml each. Containers larger than 100ml will not be accepted, even if they are partially filled.
• Containers must be placed together in a transparent, resealable plastic bag of maximum 1 litre, which must be closed completely.
• Only one resealable, plastic bag per passenger is permitted.
• The plastic bag must be presented separately from other carry-on baggage for inspection at the security point.
• Exemptions may be made for medications, baby milk/food and for passengers with special dietary requirements, subject to verification.

Each passenger may bring alcoholic beverages containing between 24% - 70% alcohol by volume:

• The total quantity of alcohol per passenger must not exceed 5 litres*, and
• Must be in their retail packaging.

For alcoholic beverages containing less than 24% alcohol by volume, above restrictions do not apply.

*If you bring alcoholic beverages onboard as part of your carry-on baggage, the restrictions on carriage of liquids, aerosols and gels will apply.

Please note that restrictions regarding the carriage of alcoholic beverages in carry-on or check-in baggage are subject to local customs regulations. For more information, you are advised to check with the relevant authorities of the country you are travelling to.

In view of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, you may want to bring alcohol-based disinfectants and sanitiser products on your flight. If you do, please observe the following:

Alcohol-based sanitizers

• Carry-on baggage
  You are allowed to carry alcohol-based sanitisers as carry-on baggage, provided that the capacity of each container does not exceed 100ml. The items should be packed in a resealable, transparent plastic bag with a maximum capacity of 1L/1kg, with the regulations of carriage of liquids, aerosols, and gels in carry-on baggage to be applied.
  
  
• Check-in baggage
  The total net quantity of each container must not exceed 0.5L/0.5kg, whilst the total net quantity of all containers per person should not exceed 2L/2kg.

Disinfection products containing corrosive liquid

Products containing corrosive substance, such as Chlorine Dioxide and Sodium Chlorite, are not allowed to be carried onboard or for check-in.

Special Baggage - Sports Equipment

Sports equipment such as bicycle, diving equipment, golf equipment, skis, snowboard, and fishing rod, may be carried as carry-on, check-in or oversized baggage, depending on its size and shape. To prevent damage, you are required to pack all sports equipment in a protective box or bag.

For sports equipment exceeding the standard size and weight of check-in baggage:

• It will be treated as excess baggage and acceptance onboard is subject to the loading capacity of your flight.
  
• Please note that total dimensions of sports equipment are calculated including its protective box.

Special Baggage - Mobility Devices

For passengers with disability requiring wheelchair service or travelling with their own mobility devices, please contact our Service Centre at least 48 hours before flight departure. If you travel with your own battery-powered wheelchair, please inform our Service Centre of the type of battery-powered wheelchair and battery installed. You are required to bring the following with you to the airport at departure:

• User manual (specifications) for your wheelchair and the batteries.
• Tools that you may need to disassemble and reassemble your wheelchair.
• For lithium-ion battery-powered wheelchair, documentation to prove the battery meets the United Nations (UN) test requirements as specified in the UN Manual of Tests and Criteria, Part III Section 38.3.

Please note all non-foldable manual and battery-powered wheelchairs can only be accepted as check-in baggage (free-of-charge). You may use your own wheelchair to the departure boarding gate and aircraft door, if possible within the airport facilities.

For battery-powered wheelchairs, please observe the following requirements:

Spillable wet battery, nickel-metal hydride battery or dry battery:

Measures must be taken to prevent short circuit (e.g., by covering exposed terminals) and unintentional activation.

Non-spillable wet battery, dry-cell battery or gel-type battery

• Measures must be taken to prevent short circuit (e.g., by covering exposed terminals) and unintentional activation.
• The battery must not contain any free or unabsorbed liquid.
• A maximum of one spare battery may be carried per passenger.

 Lithium-ion battery:

• If the mobility aid does not provide adequate protection to the battery:
  • Battery must be removed according to the manufacturer’s instructions
  • Battery must not exceed 300 Wh
  • Battery terminals must be protected from short circuit (e.g., by insulating or taping over exposed terminals)
  • Removed battery must be protected from damage (e.g., by placing each battery in a protective pouch), and must be carried in the cabin
• A maximum of one spare battery not exceeding 300 Wh or two spare batteries not exceeding 160 Wh each may be carried. Spare batteries must be carried in the cabin.
  

Battery-powered wheelchairs or mobility aids must fulfil the IATA DGR dangerous goods requirements. The batteries must meet the United Nations (UN) test requirements as specified in the UN Manual of Tests and Criteria, Part III Section 38.3. 

Special Baggage - Smart Bag

Please note that any smart bag with non-removable lithium battery will not be accepted as carry-on or check-in baggage on your flight.

For smart bags with removable lithium batteries, the following requirements must be observed and fulfilled:

• The lithium batteries of the smart bag must be removed and must be carried in the cabin. The smart bags can be either checked in or carried in the cabin, subject to your carry-on baggage and check-in baggage allowance.
• The acceptance of lithium batteries in the cabin is subject to applicable safety requirements for the carriage of electronic devices containing lithium batteries, power banks or spare lithium batteries as follows:

Spare lithium metal or lithium-ion cells and batteries for portable electronic devices

Each battery must not exceed:

• For lithium metal batteries: a lithium content of 2 g
• For lithium-ion batteries: a Watt-hour rating of 100 Wh

The batteries must be individually protected against short circuit. You must place batteries in their original retail packaging, tape over exposed terminals, or pack each battery in a separate plastic bag or protective pouch.

Spare lithium-ion batteries with Watt-hour rating between 100-160 Wh for portable electronic devices

• No more than two individually protected spare batteries per person may be carried.
• The batteries must be individually protected against short circuits. You must place batteries in their original retail packaging, tape over exposed terminals, or pack each battery in a separate plastic bag or protective pouch.

Spare lithium-ion batteries exceeding a Watt-hour rating of 160 Wh

Forbidden for carriage onboard our flights.

Special Baggage - Musical Instruments

If you are travelling with musical instruments, please follow these requirements:

• Check-in baggage: The weight and dimension restrictions for check-in baggage apply.
  
• Carry-on baggage: The weight and dimension restrictions for carry-on baggage apply.

If you intend to carry your musical instrument as carry-on baggage, you must store it in a protective box that can be stowed properly in the overhead compartment or under the seat in front.

If your musical instrument exceeds the weight and dimensions restrictions, please contact our Service Centre at least 72 hours prior to flight departure. You must provide us with information on the type, dimensions and weight of your musical instrument. Please note that total dimensions are calculated including the protective box.

Any type of spare batteries such as portable power banks, integrated power banks or lithium batteries are not allowed to be carried as check-in baggage. Small electric vehicles powered by small lithium batteries such as airwheel, solowheel, hoverboard, and Segway are prohibited to be carried as check-in baggage or carry-on baggage onboard. If you travel with Portable electronic Devices (PED) / Portable Medical Electronic Devices (PMED) with spare lithium batteries, please note below restrictions and specifications applicable to carry-on and check-in baggage.

Guidelines for packing batteries

Spare batteries may cause danger or fire when not packed properly. The terminals of spare batteries must be protected to prevent short circuit. Please use the batteries’ original retail packaging, cover the terminals with tape, or pack batteries individually into a plastic bag or protective pouch.

Delayed Baggage

In any case your check-in baggage does not arrive on the baggage carousel, please contact our baggage service Counter located at the Arrival Hall for immediate assistance. Our ground staff will assist you to log a report to facilitate the tracing and delivery once your delayed bag(s) are located. A report reference number will be given to you for future reference and tracking.

Damaged Baggage

Please verify your check-in baggage is in good condition before you leave the baggage carousel for customs clearance. If you notice damage to your baggage, please contact our baggage service Counter located at the Arrival Hall for immediate assistance. Our ground staff will assist you to log a report and a report number will be given to you for future reference.
